Example of CPAUs Consultancy Training

UNIFEM Capacity Building 2004
Capacity building of Women Development Centres (UNIFEM) During 2004, CPAU trained staff members of the Women Development Centre and UNIFEM staff/partner NGOs. To strengthen the role of women’s organizations and enhance active participation of Afghan women in political, social and economic processes.

This was achieved through training trainers on community mobilization, conflict management and peace building. As a result of the training, the participants were able to establish activities such as setting up a women’s shura, conducting workshop on women’s rights, peace talks on Ghazni radio, and peace education workshops for school teachers.

AGEF Peace Education for ex- combatants 2004/2005
CPAU provided peace education for a total of 32 ex-combatants for 6 months in Kalakan district, Kabul province. This was part of the re-integration program where  32 ex-combatants received vocational training from AGEF every morning for 6 months.  CPAU provided 1 ½ hours of peace education each day for the duration of those 6 months.

This component had weekly and monthly evaluation where significant changes were noticed in both the attitude and behavior of the trained ex-combatants.

The success of this project encouraged continuation and expansion of the project for other groups of 70 ex-combatants in Kalakan and Mirbachakot districts for the year 2005.
