Success Stories

The culture of violence in Afghanistan has been indoctrinated into Afghan children through the educational institutions of the different regimes- Soviets and Communists, post Communists and Taliban. Education became a tool for pursuing their political agendas, and exposure of Afghan children to these agendas meant that they acquired violent attitudes and behaviors.

"1 gun + 2 guns = 3 guns. This is how our children were taught mathematics during the war years. It is time for us to undo the harm war has done to our children's education.'

CPAU believes this culture of violence can be transformed through Peace Education. CPAU trains local Peace Educators in the community to go into schools and teach grade 1-12. CPAU Educators use our own original teaching materials which aim to change children's behavior and attitudes towards peaceful citizenship and individual responsibility towards others.
