Experience has shown that when rebuilding post-conflict societies, violence can often reoccur.  Even after cease-fire and the signing of peace agreements, peace on the ground is fragile. Whilst Political  and Structural peace building are necessary, CPAU believes greater emphasis should be given to peace building at grassroots level.
This is our approach:

Social peacebuilding deals with feelings attitudes, opinions, beliefs, values, skills and building a human infrastructure of people who are committed to engendering a new culture, a peace culture within the community.

We support other like minded international peace organizations. We have partnerships with:

Alliance for conflict transformation

Action Asia

Coalition for Peace in Africa

Community based peacebuilding  assumes that people and culture are the best resources for building and sustaining peace. This approach is concerned with the role of local people and their institutions to deal with violence actively as a means of promoting peace.

Our focus is on how to reduce violent behavior and change the attitudes of people involved in conflict and equip Afghan people with the skills to manage their own disputes and develop their own peaceful communities.
